Across the country, hospitals are battling a bacterium called MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus), which can cause a potentially fatalinfection. As part of a large, six-hospital initiative charged with creating better ways to control this bug, nurses joined forces with infection control faculty to develop Stop Transmission of MRSA Permanently, or STOMP MRSA. Through the nurse-led program, staff learn to follow simple precautions that help prevent the spread of MRSA.
