As a designated Level 1 Trauma Center and a regional Pediatric Trauma Center for the state of Maryland, the Johns Hopkins Department of Emergency Medicine treats more than 60,000 patients each year. This fast-paced and highly varied practice setting gives our nurses an immediate sense of accomplishment and exposure to every medical specialty—all while they hone skills in critical thinking, public health and patient teaching.
Emergency nurses can work in all three of our practice areas—from the main ED to the urgent care and acute care units—with support from clinical nurse specialists, nurse educators and a forensic nurse specialist.
