Intensive and intermediate care for patients with a variety of cardiac illnesses.


Patient Population
  • Adult
  • Diagnoses include acute myocardial infarction, cardiomyopathy and dsyrhythmias
  • May require electrophysiology testing, IABP therapy, pacemaker placement, cardioversion, and/or mechanical ventilatory support
  • Average length of stay: 5 days
Number of Beds
  • 20 ICU; 15 IMC
Nurse/Patient Ratio
  • ICU 1:2; IMC 1:3
Rotation/Shifts
  • Flexible with 8- and 12-hour shifts
Skill Mix
  • 94 percent RN; 6 percent clinical associates/clinical technicians
  • RN composite: 18 percent ADN, DIP; 77 percent BSN; 5 percent MSN
  • ACLS and CCRN encouraged
Orientation
  • In-depth, specialty care orientation that focuses on acute cardiac patient population
  • New Grads: SPRING program
