Care for adult patients with solid tumors of acute and IMC care levels.


Patient Population
  • Adults with solid tumors (lung, breast, colon, head/neck, brain, ovarian, prostate), lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, multiple myeloma
  • Treated with protocol and individual progressive modes of therapy
  • Phase I drug studies
  • Average length of stay: 5 days
Number of Beds
  • 15
Nurse/Patient Ratio
  • Day: 1:2-3
  • Evening: 1:3-4
  • Night: 1:4-5
Rotation/Shifts
  • Flexible rotation requirements; 8-, 10- and 12-hour shifts available
Skill Mix
  • 100 percent RN; 85 percent BSN; 9 percent MSN
  • Required competencies: provision of chemotherapy; blood, IV and VAD phlebotomy skills; symptom management, including pain control; IMC level of care, including cardiac monitoring
