| Care for adult patients of all acuity levels on the Hematologic Malignancies, Solid Tumor or the Bone Marrow Transplant Services—part of the IPOP continuum of care. | Patient Population | - Hematologic Malignancies: adults with relapsed or refractory leukemias and lymphomas
- Bone Marrow Transplant Service: adults with hematologic malignancies receiving peripheral blood stem cell, allogeneic and autologous and bone marrow transplants
- Solid Tumor Service: adults with solid tumors (lung, breast, colon, head/neck, myeloma, brain, ovarian, prostate) treated with protocol and individual progressive modes of therapy; some Phase I drug studies
- Average length of stay: 7 days

- Required competencies: provision of chemotherapy, blood and TPN administration skills, IV and PICC skills, and IMC level of care, including cardiac monitoring
| | Orientation | - New Grads: SPRING program
- Experienced nurses: 10 to 12 weeks
- Detailed orientation maps, skills checklists and a “Words of Wisdom” journal entry book
- After 6 months, 4-day orientation review and wrap-up with unit-based clinical nurse specialist
- Additional ongoing departmental and unit-based programs throughout the first year
