With one of the highest degrees of autonomy in the profession, this subspecialty gives nurses the freedom to spread their assessment, planning and evaluative wings. Radiology nurses are cross-trained to practice in all areas—whether angiography, ultrasound, computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), PET scan, nuclear medicine or pediatric imaging. Nurses here are also strongly encouraged to pursue continuing education, committee membership and specialty certification.
