| | Intermediate / telemetry / general care of patients undergoing cardiac surgery, heart and lung transplantation, thoracic procedures, ventricular assist devices as well as care of some medical cardiology patients. We detect, monitor and treat cardiac arrhythmias; improve respiratory status; teach patients and their families about the surgery, postoperative care and medications; and work closely with physical therapists to help patients resume a normal life. | Patient Population | - Ages 30 to 90 (average, 60)
- Procedures include ventricular assist device implantation, heart transplants, coronary artery bypass, valve repairs and replacements, lung transplants, lobe resections, lung biopsies, transhiatal esophagectomy, and telemetry monitoring of pre-op transplant and other surgical patients.
- Average length of stay: 4 to 7 days
