| Perianesthesia (Osler 7, Carnegie 7, Weinberg 3) | |
| | Pre- and postoperative care for inpatients and outpatients scheduled for surgeries or other anesthesia-requiring procedures in the operating rooms and remote anesthesia locations. The unit includes same-day surgery prep areas and a postanesthesia care unit where we monitor patients until they meet criteria for discharge to an intermediate care or other inpatient unit or home. We are cross-trained in all locations and in both prep and post-op care, including mechanical ventilation, invasive line monitoring and / or vasoactive drugs. Some nurses are trained to give IV sedation to invasive-line patients who are ASA levels 1 to 3. | Patient Population | - Routine: ages 18 and up under adult service and for emergency cases, ages 6 years and up with ASA levels 1 and 2
- Procedures span all surgical specialties as well as some pain clinic inpatients, neuroradiology, endoscopy and the catheterization lab.
